An Lionadh

Easdale

  • Registration: 230828000824

Perfect for anyone wanting to spend time by the sea, away from it all.

An Lionadh is a large 4 bedroom (sleeps 8) self-catering holiday house on the western shore of Easdale Island on Scotland's wild West Coast, 25 minutes drive from Oban and a short ferry ride from Ellenabeich. Offering comfortable accommodation with stunning sea views from all windows and the sea literally a stone's throw away, it is a totally unique holiday home. An Lionadh means 'flowing of the tide' or 'replenishing'. This speaks volumes....

The no-car island of Easdale is located 16 miles south of the bustling harbour town of Oban, yet Easdale couldn't be further removed. Step off the foot ferry onto this Island and you are in a world of no cars, roads, street lights, or shops. There is however a pub! Encircled by the Atlantic Ocean, you will become hypnotized by the sea and the fantastic wildlife the area has to offer. The perfect antidote to modern life. An Lionadh is in a stunning location on what is known as the 'back shore' looking out to the Atlantic.

There are 4 bedrooms: 2 doubles, 1 twin and one bedroom with a bunk bed which has a single bed on the top and a small double on the bottom. Please note that you are required to bring your own bed linen, towels, bath mats and tea towels:
! x super king ( we can provide this if you don't have it)
2 x double
2 x single
2 x bath mats

The kitchen, living room, a twin room and a double room and bathroom with a bath and shower over bath are downstairs.
Upstairs you'll find the master bedroom with a super king bed and ensuite shower and toilet, and a bedroom with a bunk bed.

The house has a large flat lawned garden, ideal for garden games. The garden meets the shore, with some steps down to the stoney beach where the stones shine with fools gold.

The property has a bathroom and 2 of the bedrooms on the ground floor, but there are 13 steps up to the property on the outside. It can be accessed through the garden but the ground is rough grass and not suitable for those with mobility issues.

    Directions and Parking

From Oban (16 miles) : Take the A816 south for about 8 miles. Follow the sign for 'Easdale Historic Village' and turn right onto the B844. Follow this road the short distance to Kilninver where the road swings to the right at the junction. Continue along the road, over the famous 'Bridge over the Atlantic' at Clachan and on to the village of Balvicar. At Balvicar (50 metres past Balvicar Stores) take a right turn at the junction and follow the road over the hill to the village of Ellenabeich. At the end of the village you will find parking on the pier, around the village or there is a large car park at the northern most point of the village. The passenger ferry to Easdale can be summoned during operating hours by pushing the klaxon or light buttons in the ferry waiting shed on the pier. the island has no cars or roads, only footpaths.
We use Wheel Barrows to transport our things around the island. The wheel barrow park is by the ferry shed and our wheel barrows have 'An Lionadh' written on them.
An Lionadh is a 5 minute walk from the ferry shed, walk past the Puffer and the play park, keep going till the path splits and vere off to the left and you will see the house up ahead of you.
