Learn moreWelcome to Straigona B&B, where we pride ourselves on ensuring our guests have a relaxing and comfortable stay with good local food and advice on all Orkney has to offer. Staying at a B&B provides a more personal experience compared to a hotel, so why not give it a try! Watch our Be Our Guest video - https://vimeo.com/670223650/3632dec0d2
We moved into Straigona in January 2011. The house was purpose built as a B&B by the previous owners. We have stunning views across fields to Inganess Bay and on to the island of Shapinsay. You also have a view of Kirkwall’s small airport which a lot of guests find very interesting. Straigona enjoys the best of both worlds, being semi-rural but only minutes away from the airport and Kirkwall.
Inganess - family room at front of house with the best views. Has a standard double bed and a single bed. The en-suite has a walk-in shower. (Can accept 3rd person, rates on request)
Scapa - middle room with sea views. Superking bed (can also be twin beds). The en-suite has a walk-in shower.
Skaill - at the back of the house. Superking bed (can also be twin beds). The en-suite has a bath with shower over.
All bedrooms are en-suite and are on the first floor. The dining room is on the ground floor and has a small fridge with fresh milk and a microwave for guests use.
Straigona is set in a large garden area and overlooks our small airport and Inganess Bay. We have free ranging hens, guinea fowl and ducks. We also have quail in their own cage and run. Guests can often spot Short-Earred Owl, Hen Harrier and Kestrel from the garden.
As all rooms are on the first floor we regret we are not wheelchair accessible.
