Curracag Room - The bunks, with own curtains and charging ports.

Grinneabhat Posh-tel: Curracag Room

Isle of Lewis

Four-bunk room

This bunkroom is part of a hostel and contains four individually curtained bunk beds, with a private shower room. Each bunk has its own light and charging point.

Communal kitchen facilities are available, in addition to a cèilidh space. For those who are not familiar, cèilidh is a Scottish Gaelic word for a gathering, from the root ri chèile; to come together. People come together to share songs, poetry, music and to pass on stories. What better way to get to know your fellow guests, and truly immerse yourself in the island experience.

The room is named after the Gaelic word for lapwings (pronounced koo-ra-kag), with their distinctive call and jaunty head feathers. The tuft of feathers at the back of their heads resembles the 'currac', a headdress worn by women in the past. Also known as peewits, these beautiful birds are found on croft land and machair.
