Skye Coorie is an insulated log cabin with double glazing, built in our garden on the seashore in South Skye. The sitting-room offers shoreline and mountain views as well as a space from which to watch the abundant wildlife, we see all sorts here, from deer, owls, bats, otters, seals and the occasional stoat. The garden is host to a huge range of birdlife as is the shore at the foot of the garden - this is tidal so a lot of the time it is mud flats and excellent for spotting waders and seabirds from oystercatchers and curlews to Skuas and sea eagles.
On entering the cabin immediately in front of our guest is a compact galley kitchen, with fridge (inc small freezer compartment) combination microwave/convection oven and grill, with separate two ring hob. All utensils, crockery and cutlery are included. Turning left guests walk into the cosy sitting-room, with snug sofa and dining table with two chairs. There is a digital tv with Amazon Fire stick and cable channels and USB charging points throughout the cabin. A wall mounted heater provides warmth, however we do add a couple of comforting throws, just to ensure your toes are totally toasty. From both sitting-room windows guests can look out onto the shore and mountains beyond, we supply a small spotting scope to help you watch the wildlife from the sofa! The cabin's bedroom has a double bed, open wardrobe, bedside cabinet with lamp and alarm clock, there is also an extra thick blanket at the foot of the bed too. Off this room is the toilet with small sink and full size shower; all bedding, towels and dishcloths, toilet tissue, hand wash and sanitary products are provided.
The cabin is found in Lower Breakish a small collection of homes, off the main road and down a single track road. We are just 6 miles from the famous Skye Bridge and 3 miles from Broadford with its supermarket, wee shops, fuel, pubs and restaurants. The cabin is a handy, yet quiet place to relax, watch nature or prepare for a day exploring Skye and Lochalsh.
One bedroom with double bed.
All rooms are on the same level, ground floor. The cabin is however down a steep driveway with steps at the bottom, there is steps down to the shore from the guest garden.
As we say, the cabin sits in our garden, next to the house, but is not over looked by our house. The cabin's garden provides direct access to the seashore , looking out over Ardnish point and Broadford Bay beyond. Guests have their own space in the garden, with built in bench seating, a picnic table, fire pit and BBQ with pizza oven. So bring your canoes, paddleboards & bikes. We have external electric sockets for plugging in air pumps etc if needed.
The cabin is down a steep slope and steps, it's therefore not suitable for wheelchair access.
